Community Alliance To Promote Education
CAPE Grant (2002 - 2005)

Scott County School District 1

Through a proposal submitted by the Scott County Community Foundation, both Scott County School District I & Scott County School District II will benefit through funds in order to assure educational objectives are met with success. The CAPE Grant funding was made available by the Lilly Foundation, which is allowing both school districts to ensure that we LEAVE NO CHILD BEHIND.

CAPE Objectives to Improve Educational Outcomes:

Families need support and education to help their children succeed educationally and the resources to provide their children with a broader range of experiences and activities "how the world works."

Youth and other community members need increased opportunities for training, tutoring and access to technology across the community in order to be ready for work.

We will accomplish this by creating a Web of Support and Technology over three years through:

  • A Family Resource Center with a team of family resource and support workers.
  • Teacher training on cultural needs, working with families, utilization of technology, the needs of today's workplace
  • Cultural enrichment activities/field trips/transportation
  • Youth Services Center/Alternative Education
  • Enhanced utilization of the LifeLong Learning Center
  • Planning, Coordination, Evaluation and Community Marketing of Education
  • Endowment to ensure ongoing Initiative
