Austin Middle School Archery Team Hosts Student vs. Teachers Tournament
The Austin Middle School archery team recently challenged the AMS faculty and staff to an archery tournament. The tournament was held in the school's multi-purpose gym on March 17 with the entire student body in attendance. Each student shooter challenged a teacher or staff member and then all the scores were compiled to determine that the Students defeated the Teachers with a score of 541 to 464. Mr. David Deaton, the AMS Principal, challenged 8th grade student, Blaize Sebastian to a one-on-one shooter. Mr. Deaton promised to buy the entire student body a soft drink if Blaize beat him, which of course he did.

Prior to the shoot, the Austin archery coaches, Tammy Rice, Larry Morgan and Cliff Rice hosted exclusive archery lessons for Miss Lee Anne Hahn's class. All the students enjoyed their archery experience.

The Austin Middle School archery team also learned that they qualified to shoot in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) national tournament due to their 8th place finish at the Indiana State tournament. AMS students will be shooting at the National tournament in Louisville, KY on May 13 at 11am. Spectators are welcome to attend. There is an admission and parking charge.
